AraabMuzik

Having grown up in a musical household, AraabMuzik is yet another prodigy behind the MPC who has been blurring the lines of hip hop and EDM and blowing away crowd after crowd of sold out shows.

AraabMuzik, better known as Abraham Orellana, grew up in household with a mother who once sang professionally and encouraged Abraham as he picked up the ability to play the drums starting at three years of age. By age ten he had already begun producing his own music and had picked up enough skill to play the keyboard. From there he moved onto using computers, citing producers such as Swizz Beats, Dr. Dre, and Just Blaze as an influence and naturally moved towards using the MPC drum machine. He was quickly picked up in 2006 after showcasing his skills for a record producer DukeDaGod of Diplomat Records and began making beats for artists such as Cam’ron and Hell Rell. While videos of him using his lightning fast technical skill on the MPC began to go viral he increasingly began to get live gigs in which he live sequenced all of the drumpad work.

His skills coalesced in 2009 when he produced Cam’rons album Crime Pays, spotlighting his skills as a producer-genius and propelling him towards his first solo full length release Electronic Dream. The album surfaced its way into the EDM mainstream as an instant classic, melding his hip hop roots with the sequencing and sampling styles of the scene, all to critical acclaim. Ever since then he has constantly been on tour, bringing his wildfire live show to people who come to see his amazing skills behind the drum machine. The beatsmith moves like his forearms are going to explode, mashing the buttons with the skill of a classical piano player all while producing some of the down and dirtiest beats that exist in the live music world today.

With the unmatched skill the AraabMuzik has achieved in his short time on the scene it will be a long time before he steps out of the spotlight and into the electronic music producers hall of fame.

About DJZ 10

The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
