Justice has been on the scene since 2003, but they’re probably most well known for producing † (also known as Cross), their debut album released in 2007 which absolutely changed house music forever.
Justice first came to prominence with their remix of Simian’s Never Be Alone , which was created for a college radio music contest. The work caught the eye of Ed Banger Records, home to such acts as SebastiAn, Mr. Oizo, Busy P, and DJ Mehdi, and they were soon signed. The single was quickly re-released under the title “We Are Your Friends” and Justice started doing remixes for major artists including Britney Spears, N*E*R*D, Fatboy Slim, and Daft Punk. Their first single “Waters of Nazareth” smashed onto the scene and was quickly picked up by huge DJs like Erol Alkan and Tiga. It wasn’t long until they released the legendary electro-house album † with hits such as “D.A.N.C.E.” and “Phantom,” securing them spots in the EDM Hall of Fame (if there was one). Since then they’ve gone on to release a live tour DVD entitled A Cross the Universe and they also won a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for their version of MGMT’s “Electric Feel.” In 2011 they dropped their second full length album entitled Audio, Video, Disco.
Justice has revolutionized the scene by bringing a more rock n roll feel to the EDM club landscape with their newest album, going at lengths to record new original instrumental samples and integrated audio tracks that feel more organic and less computerized. It is also noted to be more of a “daytime album” as opposed to the hard banging electro-clashing sounds they released on †.
In 2012 Justice has headlined such major festivals as Coachella, Osheaga, and played on the Ultra Music Festival main stage – all great qualifications for their success.
