From Al Lover:
“Coming from a background of underground hip-hop and punk rock, my introduction to Electronic Music was mostly through post punk, industrial, the humble beginnings of electro, 808 rap, Detroit techno, and Jamaican dub. I’ve always gravitated towards the lo-fi, off kilter, dark and psychedelic aspects of all genres and with electronic music it’s no exception. With this mix I wanted take a less conventional approach and tried to emphasize the drones, discords and off kilter rhythms giving it a loose, lo-fi, earthy aesthetic as opposed to a squeaky clean over produced sound. As with everything I do the entire mix is run through reverb and delay and kept way in the red for a most face melting listening experience.”

Track List:
The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
