Read our Grammy Recap! (Hint: Skrillex won three Grammies!)
The 2013 Grammy nominations were only announced last night, but there’s already one clear winner: EDM.
A sampling of EDM’s very best DJs appear in several different categories in the 2013 Grammys, which will take place on February 13 in L.A. The real battles this year are being fought for “Best Dance Recording” and “Best Dance/Electronica Album.” The first pits Avicii against Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia, and, um… Al Walser? While the second sees Steve Aoki facing off against deadmau5, Kaskade, Skrillex, and The Chemical Brothers.

Skrillex and Harris were recently nominated for Favorite Artist in the AMA’s first-ever EDM category earlier this year, but that prize went to David Guetta, so there’s no telling which way this one will swing.
Also worth watching is the “Best Remixed Recording” category, featuring remixes by Axwell, Skrillex & Nero, and Tommy Trash.
Best Dance Recording:
Avicii – “Levels”
Calvin Harris feat. Ne-Yo – “Let’s Go”
Skrillex feat. Sirah – “Bangarang”
Swedish House Mafia feat. John Martin – “Don’t You Worry Child”
Al Walser – “I Can’t Live Without You”
Best Dance/Electronica Album
Steve Aoki – Wonderland
deadmau5 – > Album Title Goes Here <
Kaskade – Fire & Ice
Skrillex – Bangarang
The Chemical Brothers – Don’t Think
The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
