A-Trak has been a busy boy lately. Dude’s got a new EP on the horizon, and he just dropped another single to get the people hyped for it. If “Landline” feat. GTA doesn’t get you pumped, I don’t know what will.
“Landline” takes A-Trak and collaborator GTA into trap territory, but definitely not the dangerous, ominous kind of trap you’re probably acquainted with– call this one Chicago house-trap. The tune’s got a real emotional core that most trap music lacks, with string samples that bring to mind this bygone banger. It also features Woody Woodpecker’s signature smarmy chuckle, which might make you cringe to imagine, but amazingly it works.
A-Trak is set to release his next EP, Tuna Melt, on Dec 4th, just in time for you to include it in your holiday shopping for your rave friends and family. While we wait for more tasty tidbits from Mr. Fat-Free, dig this month’s Fool’s Gold mix:
Play On SoundcloudThe DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
