Borgore on Miley Cyrus, Favorite Dead Musicians

Borgore loves to ruffle feathers and skirts (“Bitches Love Cake”). And despite proudly being one of the most hated on figures in the scene , he’s actually really friendly and absolutely hilarious.

It probably helped that he was entertaining a small room full of ladies backstage before his show at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and that some of his wild friends, 12^th Planet and Krewella, were around to hold down the floor. And he’s friends with Miley Cyrus.

Alright. So, it’s good to be Borgore. We caught up with him before he closed out the San Francisco show and finished up a wild year — just in time for another one.

What was the craziest thing that happened this year?

If 2012 was a crazy year, I don’t remember it.

Are you friends with Miley Cyrus?

Yeah.

Was her appearance at your show planned?

It was planned. She’s actually a really cool chick, a really nice person. I like her.

Who else would you like to collab with?

I mean, all of them are dead. All the people I wanna work with are dead!

Who?

Amy Winehouse! I’ll cut my pinky to sit in the same room with her. She is so incredible. There’s so many good artists right now though, and there will be in the future. Collabing is really endless in options.

Do you ever miss playing in a band?

Ya’ know, knowing that when you go on stage, anything can happen as an acoustic artist playing an instrument….Yeah, I miss playing in a band. I would love to be playing in a band right now, definitely. There’s something about playing live that’s much different from playing a record.

Do you play drums still?

I tend to play piano more lately, just because it’s more helpful when it comes to producing a song. I miss the drums bad, though. I probably suck right now to be honest, and I’m not very good at piano either, so that’s kind of a catch-22.

Anybody alive that you’d like to form a band with?

Yo! So a couple months ago, I woke up at this chick’s house, and she was playing some metal, and I was like, “Yo, what is this? It sounds sick!” And apparently it was Skrillex’s old band, and he’s a really good singer. I wasn’t aware of it.

And so I think that would be really cool to have that. I told Sonny, “Mate, you need to sing again, you’re incredible!” So, having him as a singer… Yo, I need to think about this!

Is a full-length coming anytime soon?

We’re working on an album that should be here around February, March. I’m about to finish it. Good collaborations, happy days.

Who’s featured on that?

Cannot tell you right now…Waka Flocka (laughs)!

So what do you like to do when you’re at home?

Play C.O.D., skate, f*ck random chicks, f*ck not-so-random chicks. Just chill really, man.

Where do you like to skate at?

Wherever my tour manager takes me. He’s really good. He’s incredible.

Have your parents ever been to one of your shows

They’re coming to most of my shows! My parents are full-on supportive.

What are three things you need on a desert island?

Piano, drums, and Victoria’s Secret catalogs. All of them. From every year.
