If a track could ever sound like candy, it would be Boody and Le1f‘s “Soda,” which pops and echos with a dark playfulness. Their new video takes the concept even further with bright, solid color palettes and personalized Mentos and soda explosions. Le1f whips his purple braid extensions around wildly while girls and boys alike are splooshed w colorful soda. Overall, the track simmers and burns the sugar. Le1f’s lyrics seem mostly free-associated, projecting vague threats and troubled childhood imagery. The New York duo is Boys Noize‘s most recent signing and their EP dropped yesterday on the label. The video was directed by Sam Jones and produced by VFILES.
a few people mad cuz our cult ministers poured soda on girls, but pouring soda on the boys was ok? Y U SEXIST?

The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
