Deadmau5 Remixes Reznor Band's 'Ice Age'
Mr. Mau5 has delivered a powerful-yet-understated remix of “Ice Age,” the new track from How to Destroy Angels, the latest musical project from Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.
Featured on HTDA’s second EP, An Omen, the group also includes Reznor’s wife, singer Mariqueen Maandig, and longtime collaborator Atticus Ross. Reznor enlisted major label support from Columbia Records for the release of their sophomore EP.
The man behind the mau5 — Joel Zimmerman — gave this trippy track a low-fi, glitchy makeover. Static crackles contrast Maandig’s cooing vocals, with a hollow reverb matching the track’s dark and shadowy vibe.
HTDA also released a video for “Ice Age,” a seven-minute short film directed by John Hillcoat depicting the post-industrial band holed up in a cabin somewhere out in the wilderness. Check out the freshness and let us know what you think.
