Let’s get real. Dubstep is dope, but the scene is getting tired of it. Hardly ever do you hear a full-on dubstep set anymore. It’s always getting mixed with a fusion of drumstep, electro house, and most importantly, trap music. And the reasoning is simple: It’s bassed-out music with the same flavor as dubstep, but you can actually dance to it.
Scope both of these videos at the SnowGlobe Music Festival featuring trap scene leaders Flosstradamus, RL Grime, and Baauer, all dropping the newest trap anthem: Flosstradamus’ remix of “Original Don” by Major Lazer.
We’ve heard it played in every major set this festival, and we don’t see it going away anytime soon.
After the show it’s the after-party, but what we caught on camera during the PostGlobe festivities could easily be a headlining event. At the MontBleu Resort’s Blu Nightclub, we witnessed an incredibly rare tag-team set between Baauer and RL Grime.
Among the tracks played: Flosstradamus‘ famous remix of Major Lazer‘s “Original Don.” Big surprise there. The trap movement isn’t exactly new, but by becoming the next biggest genre in the EDM scene, it’s going to become even bigger. Throw some ‘bows up!
Watch the video to check out these trap lords in action, and be sure to check out more from SnowGlobe 2012.
The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
