The song’s already been out for a minute, but “Summit,” one of Skrillex’s earlier collaborations with ex-girlf Ellie, finally got the video treatment.
There’s not much of a storyline to be found here, but it will hold your attention simply because it’s packed full of beautiful people doing beautiful things. This celebration of youth perfectly complements the nostalgic tone of the song, which finds Skrillex toning down his power-drill aesthetic for something more melancholy.
Skrill posted it on Youtube yesterday, along with a message explaining that some friends from Perth surprised him by making the video. The clip is credited to Pilerats, an Australian art collective that publishes a sleek biweekly iPhone/iPad magazine. Subscribe at the iTunes store. The ‘rats also put together a nice piece about their friendship with Sonny which you can check out here.
The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.
