You’re probably here because you love dance music. You want to be a DJ, want to find new DJs, or simply want to get so close to the speakers that your bones rattle. Yeah, we do, too. Let’s face it, DJs are the new rock stars: They sell out huge stadiums and fill festivals for weekends at a time. And even though many of us wish we could spend our lives experiencing this world in person, few of us actually can.
Earlier this year, we asked ourselves, why not build an insanely colorful online world instead? One that glows with DJ culture all the time, no matter where we are or what device we are using? So we pulled together our A-team of artists, hackers, DJs, and suits, and built a spot where this virtual world (that we all effing love) is accessible for anyone and everyone who truly loves — and I mean really loves — electronic dance music. Enter DJZ.
Today we are endtroducing our first set of products, starting with this website. Here you will find hand-picked, kick-ass videos, music, and stories about electronic dance music. You can also browse through our list of DJ superheroes, each one lit up by their tweets, Instagrams and more. Next, download our free iPhone app, DJZtxt. Have you ever heard of musical texting? Soon you will. If you can text with emojis, you can now make electronic dance music with DJZtxt. It will blow your mind.
Wander through our site. Play with our app. We are busy at work on new ideas. How about an interactive DJ tutorial that will teach you how to hijack a lame party mix and make your friends dance like they are at a club in Vegas? Or a ridiculous YouTube video series about a couple of dudes in a beat-up RV, screaming across America to chase the EDM dream? Or a DJ playground to buy and remix little pieces of your favorite songs? Yup, those are things we’ve dreamed about, too.
We hope that you enjoy DJZ as much as we enjoy creating it.

“I am a DJ, I am what I play.”
David Bowie, 1979
The DJZ/10 is a collection of ten DJs that we think you should know about now. Some of them are already familiar to you, others you may have never heard of. The list is not based on (1) a secret computer algorithm, (2) social media popularity, or (3) payola. Every month or so we get together to decide if somebody from the broader A…Z directory is about to break out and should be included in the DJZ/10, or if somebody already on the list, for that matter, is “phoning it in” and deserved to be replaced by another DJ who is more worthy.×
